There are two things we love equally - cheese wheels and uni (japanese for sea urchin). So it was almost fate when we stumbled upon Basta Pasta one night. This Chelsea long-time favorite was originally started in Tokyo and their creamy, uni pasta is a signature hit if you love seafood. But don't underestimate this place as a badly-done fusion restaurant. It is so perfectly italian, most people don't even know about the Tokyo heritage til after the fact.
Share the spaghetti with prosciutto and parmagiano reggiano as an appetizer - it's so flavorful, decadent and fun to watch them prepare it in a ginormus cheese wheel at the table.
